How to sweep the floor

How to sweep the floor

Gather your cleaning supplies.

Pick a broom according to the floor you need to sweep.

Use softer brooms to sweep smooth floors and harder brooms to sweep textured floors.

Before you start sweeping the floor pick up items on the floor and move your furniture so you can sweep above them quicker.

You might also want to bring a bag or a trash can so you don't have to walk with the dust in the dustpan all the way to dispose it.

Imagine one or two circles on the floor where you are going to sweep and pile the dust from the perimeter to the center of those circles.

Start with a corner and move clockwise sweeping the other corners.

Gently hold the broom without pressing the broom head on the floor.

Move the broom along the floor trying to keep it at the same angle with the floor, with the bristles down.

This way you avoid dust rising into the air and eventually going back to your floor, furniture and lungs.

Push the dust with the broom with short moves to the center of those circles.

Take special attention to the high traffic areas.

Once you piled the dust pick it up with the dustpan.

Hold the dustpan at small angle with the floor and gently sweep the pile into the dustpan.

To make sure you collect all the dust, put the edge of the dustpan under the tile border.

Dispose the dust into the trash can.

Visual check the floor to see if you left dust behind.

If there is still dust in the floor, sweep it again into a pile and pick it up with the dustpan.
